Frequently Asked Questions
-
Manual osteopathy is a hands-on approach that looks at how the body moves and functions as a whole. Assessment and treatment are tailored to the individual, with the goal of supporting mobility, function, comfort, and overall physical wellbeing as well as nervous system regulation through its neuromuscular component.
-
People commonly seek manual osteopathic care for concerns such as back or neck discomfort, joint stiffness, muscle tension, reduced mobility, postural concerns, and movement restrictions. Treatment may also be used to support recovery and general physical wellbeing.
-
Your first visit begins with a discussion about your health history, current concerns, and goals. This is followed by a physical assessment that may include posture, joint mobility, movement patterns, and areas of soft-tissue restriction. Treatment is then tailored to the findings and your comfort level.
-
Treatment is generally intended to be comfortable and is adapted to your tolerance. Some areas may feel tender during assessment or treatment, but techniques can be modified at any time. You are encouraged to communicate throughout your appointment.
-
We offer affordable and competitive pricing or rates depending on what treatment and program we are doing. Price ranges from $60 to $160.
-
Wear comfortable, flexible clothing that allows you to move easily. Athletic shorts, leggings, a T-shirt, or similar clothing are usually ideal. Depending on the area being assessed, you may be asked whether you are comfortable adjusting clothing so the area can be evaluated appropriately.
-
There is no set number that applies to everyone. The frequency and number of appointments depend on your concerns, health history, goals, and how your body responds to treatment. Your progress can be reassessed as care continues.
-
In many cases, a referral is not required to book an appointment with a manual osteopathic practitioner. However, some insurance plans may have their own requirements, so it is a good idea to confirm directly with your provider.
-
Coverage for manual osteopathic treatment varies by insurance provider and individual benefit plan. Some extended health plans may reimburse treatment when it is provided by an eligible practitioner, but coverage is not guaranteed. Clients are responsible for confirming their own plan requirements before booking.
-
Direct billing may be available for some insurance providers, but not all plans or insurers support it. Availability can also depend on the details of your individual policy.
If you would like to use direct billing, please check with your insurance provider in advance to confirm whether manual osteopathic treatment is eligible and whether direct claims are accepted under your plan.
If direct billing is not available, you can pay for your appointment and use the receipt provided to submit a claim to your insurer for reimbursement, subject to your plan's coverage.
-
Yes. Some people choose manual osteopathic care even when they are not experiencing significant discomfort. Appointments may focus on maintaining mobility, addressing areas of restriction, supporting movement, and promoting overall physical wellbeing. In fact, we are proud to offer our “Neurowellness program” for nervous system regulation utilizing body-based practices derived from manual osteopathy.
